i know this is the dreaded issue and I just don't know what to do about it..if we're doing the right thing..if we should try something new..i just need advice I guess,

My twins are 6 months old. One sleeps pretty well- she is down to one feeding a night- but sometimes we get her up with her brother to try and maintain some semblance of a schedule. My problem sleeper is my son. First of all he is a very light sleeper and tends to startle easy (even when awake). Anyway- they typically go to bed at 6:30. For a while they would both sleep until 11pm ish. Now after a recent growth spurt he wakes up a lot earlier. Sometimes at 9 which means he's up 3-4x a night.

Right now he eats at:

5 ish*

*in order to stretch him that long we have to get up a few times to soothe/ replace paci's etc.

Now I've tried to et him CIO however he tends to get hysterical so we usually stop when he gets to that point. am I giving up too easily? When he gets up to eat he eats a solid 6 oz usually so is he still hungry?

I had hoped by now maybe we would be down to one night feeding. was I delusional? I am so tired. I just want to sleep. This sounds horrible but I have my first overnight business trip this week and I am so excited to sleep in a hotel room its sad.

yup, he's quite the chunker. and let me tell you when he gets the bottle you would think that we were starving him and he hadn't eaten for days. He attacks it. Its one of the reasons i'm reluctant to let him CIO for an extended period because I truly believe he is hungry.

Gosh, that's tough! We got really lucky and both girls STTN at the same time. Our ped was very adament that they definitely don't NEED to eat at night, they just want you. Could you push their bedtime back? At that age, I think our girls were going down around 8, if I remember correctly.

Also, I'd pick up a copy of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child (is that right Phen???). It really helped us on some nap issues and I know it probably will help!!!!!

Yeah I've thought about that and we tried a later bedtime once but I think he was overtired. Weissbluth recommends and earlier bedtime in most case. I do feel bad for him because he is so tired and he had swollen red eyes most of the time but he gets very little sleep because he sleeps so lightly. And now that he's figured out how to turn his aquarium on I'm sure he'll be watching that for hours on end, He LOVES his fish.
